Dare to push boundaries, redefine the legendary and be a part of Southern Queensland's next great artistic story.

The Noosa Portrait Prize invites artists from all over Southern Queensland to step into the unknown, to challenge the norms, and to redefine what it means to create. This is where art meets icon—where the boundaries of conventional portraiture are not just pushed but obliterated.  And where you can use any medium to showcase your portraits.

This is a call to the mavericks, the rule-breakers, the artists who refuse to be confined by convention. The Noosa Portrait Prize is your platform to unleash your vision, to immortalise the legends of Noosa in your own unique style, and to create art that will not just be seen, but remembered.

Either you are an artist working somewhere in Southern Queensland, or you can be from anywhere but your Icon is from Southern Queensland.  It's your choice.

The Noosa Portrait Prize is more than an opportunity—it’s an invitation to be part of something truly groundbreaking.

Submission Guidelines

Artworks can be submitted in various artistic mediums such as paint - watercolor, acrylic, and oil, with the inclusion of other mediums like drawing (pencil, pastel, charcoal), printmaking, photography, and collage to a lesser extent. Sculptures, and 3D are also possible.  Entries must consist of Portraits and the medium of your choice.  Artwork maximum size 2m x 2m.

Selected submissions will be curated and displayed at The J Noosa Non Gallery for three weeks, providing artists with the opportunity to sell their pieces through the gallery (subject to a 20% commission).

Celebrating Artists and Community

The Noosa Art Prize not only celebrates individual artists but also strengthens community bonds. By curating diverse artworks from all over Southern Queensland at The J in Noosa, this event transforms the venue into a vibrant hub of creativity. It offers artists a platform to showcase their talent and allows the community to engage with thought-provoking artworks.
