This painting provides insight into my nephew's self-perception and is reminiscent of children using photographs to observe themselves. One thing we as adults forget is included in his insight. It is the innate ability to be compassionate and kind to everything around you with a complete blindness to anything that isn’t that. This is why he is an icon and a hero. These qualities aren’t unique, my own little boy who I am yet to do a painting of shows these same traits between excitedly bringing snails inside to see if they would like to share blueberries and resting his head next to the dog as a sign of comfort. These qualities are everywhere they just seem to be pushed to the side as we get older. Anyone who is kind, helpful and compassionate to animals should he an icon.
