“Duets” is a portrait of my son-in-law Phillipe, a local Noosa musician, doing what he loves the most - playing music - especially Brazilian forró. As an artist I am inspired by the power of music to bring people together, to transcend borders and cultures, and I admire its unwavering presence in Phillipe's life, his absolute dedication to his instrument, and his ability to create community around it. The title itself suggests the collaborative nature of music. "Duets" combines whimsy and craft, and serves as a heartfelt tribute to Phillipe's musical journey and the enduring connection between art, culture and personal expression.  His current band – La Felipe – focuses on organic rhythms, harmonic instrumental music and poetic lyrics.
