This painting is of my sister, captured during a quiet moment of recovery after surviving a ruptured abdominal artery aneurysm. She’s seated in a woven chair, resting—but there’s a strength in her gaze that speaks to everything she’s been through. I wanted to hold that contrast: the softness of the light and setting, against the intensity of what’s beneath the surface. It’s a reflection on fragility, survival, and the quiet power of simply being here.
