Theresa Edwina Brook - Daughter; broken eyelashes
Oil on canvas
1.01m x 1.51m
Daughter; broken eyelashes.
Like Precambrian sedimentary layers, each facet of oil paint applied resembles a place in time, a deep history of layered and textured energy that connects me to daughter. She stands, a whole world of her own, rumbling, turning, churning, pouring diamond rain.... strumming, breaking....eyelashes. Understandably and easily misunderstood, she is seen now, a bolt of titanium white lightning.
Without her gaze, there are ingredients I can not read. Pale warm milk waivers over her face, unguided and outstretched exhausted fingers, slicing the surface of atmosphere.
To measure the significance and meaning of my own life, is to know the value in my daughter. She is everything, her shadows and light are more than I could ever imagine or surface in paint. A glimpse of paradise beyond the blur of time.
