About the work
A Formal Arrangement explores the relationship between distance, detail and perception. From afar, the work resolves into a formal portrait crowned by an abundant arrangement of flowers. On closer inspection, the image breaks apart into 841 individually prepared tiles, each containing its own fragment of imagery, pattern and visual narrative. The mosaic is physically constructed by hand on timber, transforming digitally developed imagery into a tactile object. The work invites the viewer to move between the whole and its parts, questioning how an image changes as we look more closely. What first appears ordered and familiar gradually reveals complexity, interruption and hundreds of smaller worlds.

Collection and delivery
This work is on show at The J, Noosa, until the exhibition closes on 29 October. Works bought during the exhibition stay on the wall until then, and we'll be in touch after purchase to arrange collection or delivery.
