About the work
Bad Mom
Inspired by Michael Zavros’ Bad Dad, Bad Mom is a tongue-in-cheek celebration of unapologetic indulgence. Champagne in hand, the figure appears entirely unburdened by responsibility, at ease in her excess.
The immaculate, almost eerily empty surroundings seem to exist solely for her - the pool, manicured greenery and architecture becoming her own private playground. Even the perspective conspires in her favour, drawing the eye towards her at the centre of it all.
Bad Mom playfully explores pleasure, guilt and the quiet rebellion of choosing yourself for a moment - the seductive fantasy of having nowhere else to be and no one else to answer to. She offers no justification for her indulgence. She is not escaping the scene - she owns it.
