About the work
This work uses the familiar figure of the mechanical toy as a vessel for nostalgia, transforming an object associated with childhood innocence into a meditation on mortality. Its uncanny, mechanised body occupies a space between animation and obsolescence, reflecting the instability of human attempts to comprehend death and the afterlife. Through this tension, the work considers the limits of anthropocentric thought: our impulse to project human meaning onto conditions that ultimately remain unknowable.
