About the work
I am looking through the lens of a certain quiet time of day and weather condition with the scene laid out before me as if I am alone contemplating, like nature bathing in a restful space with only the sound of makes me think about how a place reaches out and takes you in.
First I need to experience it and take a good reference photo that I feel I can translate into paint. This series is all the same size , 92 x 121 cm. The background wash is a watercolour approach and influences every. The oil paint is brushed on in strokes and gestural marks.or applied with a palette knife. It makes me think about how a place reaches out and takes you in.
First I need to experience it and take a good reference photo that I feel I can translate into paint. This painting is one of a series of 12. I wanted to create a strong sense of empathy for this location using focused composition and colour.
