About the work
I made this work through repetition. Hundreds of individually thrown ceramic components were made, trimmed and assembled to build a single form. Each component is slightly different, so the surface shifts constantly rather than becoming a uniform pattern.
I was interested in what would happen when the accumulation became dense enough to obscure the individual parts, while leaving a clear opening through the centre. The void became as important as the material around it.
I want the viewer to move around the work and notice the changing relationship between the dense outer surface and the space held within it. From some angles it feels solid and contained; from others, the opening pulls the eye straight through.

Collection and delivery
This work is on show at The J, Noosa, until the exhibition closes on 29 October. Works bought during the exhibition stay on the wall until then, and we'll be in touch after purchase to arrange collection or delivery.
