About the work
Natalie Yates is a Queensland multidisciplinary artist whose organic abstract practice draws deeply from nature, topography, and the slow sculptural forces of fluvial erosion. ‘Fluvial Erosion No3’ traces the movement of landscape—its shifting surfaces, carved waterways, and geological memory—through fluid mark‑making and tactile material exploration. The hand‑built form echoes eroded terrain and river‑shaped contours. Whilst treated in the ancient process of Obvara the surface pattern blurs the boundary between painting and sculpture, offering quiet, contemplative studies of natural process and place.
