About the work
I paint Freda regularly. She doesn’t always look like her because Im painting my own story of energy and experience. When I paint her I am painting my own emotional connection to an energy I am feeling while Im thinking of her. Freda is so beautiful and iconic but she doesn’t always look beautiful when I paint her. This painting expresses an energy of contrast. The monotony of life in the browns of varying flavours but a life still bright hence the neon halo. I’m not painting her or her energy at that time but my own feelings. I’d felt trapped in a place I didn’t want to be. Forced to live a life that didn’t feel like my own but still found satisfaction and value from regardless. Freda for me is a reflection of how I’m feeling. I hope the viewers connect with this piece in much the same way as a mirror only they can reflect to interpret expressing their own essence energy & experiences through her.
Collection and delivery
This work is on show at The J, Noosa, until the exhibition closes on 29 October. Works bought during the exhibition stay on the wall until then, and we'll be in touch after purchase to arrange collection or delivery.
