About the work

My ceramic practice explores the relationship between glaze, form, and texture. Texture plays an important role in my work, creating surfaces that invite closer observation and encourage a tactile response. I am interested in how the surface of a vessel can be transformed through layering glaze, creating contrast between smooth, rough, glossy, and matte areas.

I build layers of glaze to develop depth, variation, and visual movement across each form. The interaction between glaze and texture creates unexpected effects during firing, allowing the material to contribute to the final outcome. I embrace this unpredictability as an important part of the creative process.

Form provides the foundation for exploring these surfaces, while texture and glaze work together to emphasise shape and movement. Through experimentation, I aim to create ceramic works that reveal new details from different angles and encourage close engagement with the surface.
