About the work
This mixed media portrait of Deborah Conway celebrates a woman whose voice extends far beyond music. Fearless, intelligent and outspoken, Deborah is also a generous supporter of artists and has inspired many portraits throughout her life.
I had the pleasure of meeting Deborah after one of her shows and took the opportunity to ask if she would sit for me. During our sitting, she immediately made me feel comfortable. Conversation flowed so naturally that it felt as though I had known her personally for years. That warmth and openness became an important part of how I wanted to portray her.
Built through layers of textile, collage, paint and stitch, the work brings together fragments of Deborah’s creative life and my own interpretation of the woman I met.

Collection and delivery
This work is on show at The J, Noosa, until the exhibition closes on 29 October. Works bought during the exhibition stay on the wall until then, and we'll be in touch after purchase to arrange collection or delivery.
