About the work
This painting is based on a photo from my primary school graduation trip, a special journey with just my mum and me. It felt like a gentle ending and the start of something new. In the painting, I look at myself through the glass of a fish tank. The cool blue water contrasts with the warm tones of my skin, showing both calmness and change. I softened the reflection to suggest how growing up can feel unclear. The fish drift between us like quiet thoughts. I am still the same person, but I am slowly becoming someone new as I prepare for high school.
