About the work
This self-portrait explores my experience of being a wallflower. The two overlapping faces represent different aspects of my identity – though neither of them directly face the audience. This work serves as a commentary of my reserved nature which directly impacts my social life as well as opportunities to interact with people outside of my comfort zone. The background and floral motifs were inspired by traditional western wallpapers. These features also cover small portions of myself, reflecting the feeling of blending into my surroundings.
