About the work

Some things only become important once we are outside of the moment.

Trying on an old helmet found in an antique store was just an ordinary moment, nearly forgotten. The further the memory drifted away, the more eerily similar the contemporary shirt and helmet began to feel.

The armour may have changed, but war has not. The wars surrounding us, the ones carried quietly within, and the ones we only recognise once enough time has passed. I began wondering what armour looks like now, whether it has really changed, and whether we know we are wearing it. Has the price of the fight changed, or does the cost only become clear with time?

I return to these moments in my work, searching for what was always there but could only become visible once I had stepped outside of the memory.
