About the work
Little Kingdom is an oil on canvas self portrait of me and my little brother on my fifth birthday, dressed as Ben the elf and Holly the fairy from Ben & Holly’s Little Kingdom. Re painting this moment allowed me to reconnect with the imagination, closeness and playful storytelling that shaped our childhood. His arm around my shoulders and our bright costumes capture a tiny world where everything felt magical and full of possibility. Revisiting this memory now, as a young artist, reminds me how those early experiences of creativity continue to influence my practice and the way I portray relationships and belonging.
